as i put my face down

i disappear into the ground

and i bear witness:

i didn’t come here

to be seen and heard

i came here

to see

and listen

i didn’t come here

to be complacent

and smug

i came here to be

broken

and stunned

i didn’t come here

to be always at ease

i came here

to be cured by disease

i didn’t come here

to hoard and to take

i came here

to lose

and give away

as i put my face down

i disappear into the ground

and i bear witness:

there is nothing

like You

there is nothing

but You

i came here

to know

to be just that Knowing

and i came here

to worship
