this morning

i complained:

Allah

i surrendered long ago

i’ve given up everything 

for You

everything i owned

everything i was

everything i knew

and yet 

this continual anguish

why?

He said:

I made you 

of the fuqara

the ones 

who are dispossessed

and always needy

for Me

on the path I chose 

for you

there is no arrival

only journeying

and journeying is pain

and journeying is fire
