emptiness invites me
its silence is all ears

i hear a thousand 
unheard whispers
suddenly clamouring 
to be heard

afraid of what i might hear
 i want to find a crowd
something, anything
to do

but the wise one stops me
the one who’s older
than the fire belly of the earth,
its farthest star

how long?
how far?

she asks

how long?
how far?

there’s nowhere 
other than here

there’s no one
other than you

you are the veil
and the Beloved too
