you have no idea

how i’ve restrained myself

there is

a wild thing

sleek, swift

and powerful

with wings

and a loud

melodious song

of your name

inside me

i could

kill for you

die for you

take you in

with my eyes

and my ears

through my nostrils

through my mouth

and destroy you

you have no idea

how i’ve restrained myself

to appear

a sedate person

living in a city

with millions of others

all of us tamed

and leashed

to hold

our fragile peace

you have no idea

how patient I am

how long I’ve been

in silence

and waiting

for you

to open the door

to your

inner wilderness

and let Me in
