Companionship

there is companionship
and intimacy
not found everywhere
as precious
as the flawless,
silent moon

we can live lifetimes
not knowing
it is this intimacy
we yearn for
with our soul

spend our lives
doing, overdoing,
counting, collecting

and remain bereft, bitter
more broken still

the Friendship worth
a million worthless lifetimes
(such as those spent
in noisy accumulation)

comes only from Grace
and the Source of
All
Mercy

if you find it
don’t let it go
